Animal Portraits Gallery... Introduction
After a two year (non-voluntary!) break from painting I wanted to see if I could still paint, and see if I could start painting different things in different ways. Previously, much of what I painted was primarily taken from the imagination, so I wanted to give working from life a try. I also wanted to try out a whole host of different brushes, painting mediums and painting techniques.
Before tackling human portraits or still lifes - which are next on my list - I thought I'd give animal portraits a go first.
It has been hard work but a lot of fun!
On this page are some of the animal portraits I've done, hopefully there are a few more to come!

Geesha
This is my cat, Geesha. Most of these paintings are done from photos taken when she was a kitten.
They're all slightly different styles, as my aim in doing these portraits was just to try out a whole series of new brushes, painting mediums and painting techniques. I wasn't that concerned about the end product. These are all also fairly quick paintings (compared to how I usually work); the top two especially.
